IT Security Analyst

Valukoda is assisting a client, an innovator in the health and wellness space, to hire an IT Security Analyst. The Security Analyst evaluates, plans, and carries out security measures to protect the company’s computer networks and systems. This is a vital role in keeping our proprietary and sensitive information secure. The Security Analysts will work inter-departmentally to identify and correct flaws in the company’s security systems, solutions, and programs while recommending specific measures that can improve the company’s overall security posture. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that our company’s digital assets are protected from unauthorized access. This includes securing both online and on-premises infrastructures, performing recurring security activities, weeding through metrics and data to filter out suspicious activity, and finding and mitigating risks before breaches occur.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs recurring security activities in the areas of access control, audit logging/monitoring, network protection, vulnerability management, data protection and privacy, configuration management and others
  • Respond to security questionnaires and inquiries from clients
  • Conduct 3rd party security assurance activities and provide recommendations to meet security and business requirements
  • Review and update’s company’s security policies and procedures, including incident responses and disaster recovery plans
  • Conducts security and risk assessments
  • Performs both internal and external security audits
  • Protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs
  • Monitors security access
  • Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents and document findings
  • Support activities that contribute to successful SOC, HITRUST and internal security audits
  • Develop company-wide best practices for IT security
  • Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard
  • Stay current on IT security trends and news
  • Perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities
  • Support efforts to counter attacks
  • Proactively improve processes
  • Assess/Verify the security of third-party vendors and collaborate with them to meet security requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience or familiar with security frameworks such as HIPAA, HITRUST and/or NIST
  • Experience supporting HITRUST or SOC audits
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS
  • Knowledge of Ethical Hacking
  • Knowledge of Penetration testing
  • Knowledge of Intrusion prevention
  • Incident response
  • Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts
  • Ability to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them
  • Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact
  • Flexibility in addressing emerging and changing priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously and prioritize work
  • Available to work daily and extended hours, as necessary
  • Ability to solicit additional resources, when necessary, to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Ability to develop and foster effective relationships with team members
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently depending on project demands
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to listen, understand and address client needs and concerns in our processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in information security or related field

Certifications: CompTIA Security+, or similar is preferred
